This program is for male and female participants aged 12 – 18 MAX 8 REGISTRATIONS

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

If you are a GOALKEEPER, the GK Academy is for you! Coed, ages 12-18, all skill levels welcomed. Participants will be divided into appropriate age and skill groups at the start of camp.

WHAT is the GK Academy?

The Dinos Goalkeeping Academy is designed to deliver consistent and regular Goalkeeper specific training through the year in order to maximize and accelerate development of Calgary’s Goalkeepers. Athletes should have prior experience with school, club or provincial programming and be interested in extending their knowledge and execution of the game.

The Academy will teach individual skills that you can work into your game such as positioning, balance, core saves, ground play, better ball contact, and proactive decision making for skill selection.

This advanced skill development, with regular training touch points will take your game to the next level.

Our Coaches

The program will be lead by Qualified and Experienced coaches from within the Dinos Field Hockey program.

Dinos Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper specialist, Heather Ramsay is a Competititon Development trained coach currently pursuing certification. Heather has 25+ years experience working with goalkeepers in the Calgary region.

Calgary Native, Camilla McGillivary is a Canadian Women’s National Team Goalkeeper and former Old Dominion University stand out with experience coaching athletes from a variety of skill levels including youth, NCAA Divison 1 university and Next Gen performance athlete.

The program is overseen by Dinos Head Coach, Jenn Beagan, a Chartered Professional coach (ChPC) holding an Advanced Coaching Diploma, Competition Development Certification and an FIH Coach Developer. Jenn has 25 years of performance coaching experience including winning a gold medal with Team Canada at the Jr Pan American Games, and leading the Canadian U21 Women’s National team to back to back Junior World Cups.

Field Players get specific training, why shouldn’t goalkeepers!??

This program is designed to provide regular Goalkeeper specific touch points with a bi- weekly training schedule throughout the year. It is important that you get time and support to build the fundamental skills important to your position.

As you build these skills, it is also crucial for your overall development that you get to practice these skills in team based training, and in games. For this reason, we highly recommend Performance focused Goalkeepers register for the Elite Academy program (special GK rates) which will add team based training on week that do not have GK specifics.

Developing Goalkeepers are also encouraged to register for club training in order to receive team based training and game play each week.

SCHEDULE

The training plan for this program incudes the following elements September 2025 – April 2026 with Training approximately every second week:
There will be approximately 2 sessions per month, PLUS the 8 weekly academy sessions in June/July for a total of approximately 21 specialist training opportunities this coming season.

September: 8, 15, 22 (Training 6-8pm Hawking Field)

October: 6, 11 (Oct 11^th is the 2^nd annual Dinos 7v7 Oktoberfest event from 11 – 2pm

November: 3 17 (Red Gym, UofC 500-700pm)

January: 15, 29 (Red Gym, UofC 730-900pm)

February: 12 (Red Gym, UofC 730-900pm)

March: 12, 19 (Red Gym, UofC 730-900pm)

April: 9* 23 (Hawking Field *weather dependant – Times pending Facility bookings)

May: No training in May to allow for High School and PSO based training

June/July: 8 Friday evening GK Academy sessions times tbd pending facilities
