WHY SUPPORT?
We are a non-funded USport Varsity program. Our team is fully supported by the University to allow the program to remain in the Canada West and U SPORTS conferences, but it is completely funded through fundraising dollars and managed by the DWFHAA.
Fundraising is an important aspect of the overall program and is important to ensure the sustainability and growth of the program for future seasons. Dinos Field Hockey Athletes commit a combined 1000 hours per year to fundraising including working 50-50 and concession shifts at the Saddledome, casinos, pub nights, as well as hosting tournaments and camp programs.
Dinos Field Hockey has big goals for 2025 and beyond. In order to pursue our goals with full focus it is crucial that these athletes can prioritize their time on academics and training. To do this, we must be able to generate donations and support for the team through field hockey related programs, alumni support, and major business donors.
By making a gift to Dinos Field Hockey, you can spark meaningful change in the success of this program and the long-term success of our student-athletes on and off the field. DINOS FIELD HOCKEY FUND
This general fund supports the ongoing operations and overall excellence of the University of Calgary’s field hockey team. By contributing to this fund, you are enabling us to invest in sport-specific resources and equipment, as well as specialized coaching, training and competition opportunities for our student-athletes that help contribute to their development and success both on and off the field.
DINOS FIELD HOCKEY ENDOWMENT FUND
This is a holding account for our Dinos Field Hockey Endowment. Once this account hits $25,000 the funds will be transferred and invested through the University of Calgary’s Development program. Dinos Field Hockey will then receive 4% back each year that can be used towards operations of the team. Having a robust endowment fund ensures that Dinos Field Hockey can be sustainable long term and will help to minimize the additional fundraising and work necessary to have a successful program for many years to come.
DINOS FIELD HOCKEY LEADERSHIP AWARD
Financial support is crucial for many of our student-athletes, who juggle the demands of both academics and athletics. Your donations to this priority area provide support toward scholarships that help reduce financial barriers, allowing our student-athletes to focus on their studies and excel in their chosen sports.
This Leadership Award is presented each year to recognize significant contributions to the Dinos Field Hockey Program.
DINOS FIELD HOCKEY FIRST YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS
Financial support is crucial for many of our student-athletes, who juggle the demands of both academics and athletics. Your donations to this priority area provide support toward scholarships that help reduce financial barriers to first year athletes.
The First Year Scholarships is a new fund that will allow us to provide more scholarship to first year athletes, supporting the cost of their education.
LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP or other ENDOWMENT GIFTS

WHAT IS GIVING DAY…
Launched in 2017, UCalgary Giving Day has raised more than $10 million for an array of initiatives across the University of Calgary, including faculty impact funds, student awards and research initiatives.
When you donate to Dinos Field Hockey, you’re investing in our program and our student-athletes. Your donations helps create an exceptional student-athlete experience and empowers the next generation of business and community leaders.
On Giving Day, your gift can have double the impact! Donations can be made to any of our Dinos Field Hockey Funds. All eligible Giving Day donations made between April 8th and midnight on April 18, 2024 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $2,500 per gift while matching funds last.
HOW CAN YOU HELP!?!?!?!
Does your company offer donation matching??
Here is an example from last year.
An individual made a very generous $2500 donation to Dinos Field Hockey – this was matched by the university. That individuals company also had a donation matching program, this company made a $2500 donation to Dinos Field Hockey that was also matched
The original $2500 turned into an amazing $10,000 donation to our program!
Challenge your Teammates!
You are a first time donor, and you donate $25. This donation will be matched, making the donation $50, and will trigger a $25 top up. The total donation to the program is now $75.
Let’s assume you are also very competitive, and you tell all your former teammates that you donated, and challenge them to do the same. All of a sudden, 25 alumni have donated $25 and we have now triggered an additional $2500 top up! That first $25 donation and action has now provided more than $4300 to our program!

Is there a minimum gift amount?
There is no minimum donation amount. All gifts — big or small — make an impact to our program.
Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?
Yes. Tax receipts will be issued for all donations of $25 or more
