Dinos Academy Programs are designed to support the continuing development of Male and Female Field Hockey Athletes as well as Coaches in the Calgary area. Dinos Academy is a technical-based training program for Athletes who are looking to develop and advance their performance skills. Athletes should have prior experience with school, club or provincial programming and be interested in extending their knowledge and execution of the game.
2025/26 Academy Programs
Dinos Academy will be offering TWO full year training programs for the 2025/26 calendar year.
- Dinos Elite Academy – annual performance training environment to supplement your regular club training and prepare for NextGen camps, Youth National teams, and University prep.
- Dinos GK Academy – Regular goalkeeper specialist training bi-weekly throughout the year.

2025-26 DINOS ELITE ACADEMY
This Dinos Elite Academy designed to deliver an appropriate, weekly, Performance focused training environment to supplement and support what is being delivered in club environments. This program is specifically for development of athletes whose goal is to pursue field hockey at provincial, national or international level, and/or prepare for university varsity level programs.
Within this Elite Academy, Athletes will develop and advance their performance skills in technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of the game. Focus will be placed on developing a culture of excellence around performance behaviours, application of technical skills, strong principled based decision making in skill selection, tactical understanding and thinking the game while playing at speed and under pressure.

2025-26 DINOS GK ACADEMY
All Goalkeepers are welcome including Elite (Provincial and Next Gen identified) as well as Club, School or Youth Goalkeepers are encouraged to register! Training groups may be created in order to provide an appropriate level of focused training based on skill level and the daily training plans.
The Dinos Goalkeeping Academy is designed to deliver consistent and regular Goalkeeper specific training through the year in order to maximize and accelerate development of Calgary’s Goalkeepers.

Dinos Athletes – Volunteer Assistants. We have 16 athletes staying in Calgary to train this summer all of our Dinos have been assigned to support high school teams across the city! Good luck to everyone this season!
Preseason Team Workshops: Fee TBD based on request and availability
Some schools have asked about team specific workshops. If this is something you would like to set up, please reach out and we can discuss details around how we can best support your specific team as you prepare for your season. You would need to provide the facility and equipment (balls, cones, pinnies etc as necessary)

HIGH SCHOOL COACHING CLINICS
In Winter 2025 Dinos Academy Offered 6 coaching clinics geared at providing support to high school coaches or teachers as they prepare for their 2025 seasons. These clinics covered everything from specific technical instruction, tactical and rule information, goalkeeping and more!
Coaching clinics can be available to any coach looking to advance their understanding of the game, and coaching knowledge. Please reach out if you missed these clinics but would like to learn more about future opportunities
PROSPECTS ID CAMP
This camp is intended for athletes in grade 10 or above from across Canada that are considering the option of continuing their education at the University of Calgary and are interested in learning more about the field hockey program, culture and expectations of playing varsity field hockey as well as be assessed by the Dinos coaching staff as a potential recruit.
The camp will include fitness testing, technical training and game play in a format that will simulate the load and intensity of a Varsity Preseason Camp. We will also have a full campus tour, and Q&A Panel discussion with our current Dinos Athletes to learn specifics about our program.

5pm-7pm Fitness Testing (Bronco, Repeat Sprint Ability Test and 40m Sprint)

9 -11am Technical Training
1200 -130pm Campus Tour and Dinos Student-Athlete Panel
300 – 500pm: Technical Training / Game Play
Sunday May 10:
900-1100am Game Play
2026 JUNIOR DINOS 7v7 Play Day!
Join us for an evening of field hockey instruction and fun 7v7 games!
Everyone will get 1.5 hours of technical instruction in skills stations run by Dinos Players and Staff, followed by 4x 20 minute 7v7 games.
REGISTER HERE: 2026 registration is not yet available
* Each junior HS team should create 2 squads to play, the teams will alternate so each player gets 2 games.
* Dinos will provide coaching support for technical portion, but the JV coaches should participate and be prepared to help coach the 7v7 games.
**Please note, if your TEAM is not registering, however you have individual athletes that would like to attend please get in touch with Jenn ([email protected]) Individuals can register for $10 each and will be placed with other individuals on a 7v7 team.
